JMIR Publications is hiring and on-boarding in a remote/hybrid work environment. The successful candidate will have:

Your Impact:

Reporting to our Chief Product and Technology Officer, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Lead and develop the IT department, ensuring efficient technological support for all company functions

  • Partner with stakeholders to define and implement a strategic IT roadmap that aligns with business goals

  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the IT team

  • Champion the adoption of best practices in IT service management and user experience


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)


  • 7+ years of progressive IT experience

  • Experience working with cloud-based application development teams

  • Proven proficiency in administering enterprise collaboration tools like Google Workspace or Microsoft 365

  • Experience in vendor management and application portfolio optimization

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a leadership role, building, motivating, and leading a high-performing IT team

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement processes to grow and scale the IT function, ensuring efficient resolution and a positive user experience

  • Proven project management skills with a track record of successful project delivery on time and within budget

Technical Knowledge

  • System Administration: Experience managing and maintaining IT infrastructure, including servers and operating systems

  • Budgeting & Resource Management: Ability to develop and manage IT budgets, effectively allocating resources

  • Security & Compliance: Understanding of IT security best practices and compliance regulations relevant to JMIR's industry

  • Data Management & Backup: Knowledge of data management practices and disaster recovery procedures

  • Network Management: Familiarity with network administration principles and tools

  • IT Service Management (ITSM): Working knowledge of ITSM frameworks (e.g., ITIL) to continuously improve IT service delivery and support

  • Change Management: Proven experience in leading and implementing IT changes with minimal disruption

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions

  • Customer focus; fostering collaboration between IT and other departments

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strategic Planning & Growth: Strong analytical and Strategic thinking skills to assess current IT capabilities, identify opportunities for growth, and contribute to the development of a long-term IT roadmap that aligns with business objectives
